Public Computers
Residents with a valid Huntington Public Library card as well as guests may use the public computers. We do not limit guests to a specific number of computers, but guest users must provide identication to a Reference Librarian representative prior to accessing our public computers. Acceptable identification includes a library card from your home library, a driver's license or other form of identification that provides your address.
Wi-Fi
Huntington Public Library provides free high-speed wireless Internet access at both our 338 Main Street and Station Branch locations. Our high-speed Wi-Fi is powered by dedicated Cablevision Optimum Ultra connections. These Internet connections are unfiltered and also require agreement and consent to our Acceptable Use Policy prior to access. The security passphrase to connect is "hpllibrary" without the quotation marks.
Internet and Computer Use Policy
The Huntington Public Library does not control or monitor information being accessed from the Internet and cannot be held responsible for content, accuracy, quality, or use of the information obtained. As with other library materials, restriction of a child's access to electronic resources is the sole responsibility of the parent/legal guardian.
Failure to use any electronic workstation appropriately and responsibly may result in the loss of library privileges. Parents and legal guardians should be aware that use of electronic resources is governed under local, state and federal law. Unlawful activities may be handled with appropriate legal action.
Users under the age of 18 need written permission from a parent/legal guardian to use the Internet.
Book Scanner
Use our free, high quality book scanner with touch screen technology to easily scan, save, and share your photos and documents in a variety of formats, including PDF, Word, Excel, TIFF, JPEG or html. Your documents can be saved to your USB Flash drive or sent to an e-mail address. The bookscanner is located next to the front Circulation Desk at our 338 Main Street location. A second bookscanner is located at our Station Branch location at 1335 New York Avenue.
Fax
People are able to send or receive a fax at the Main Library (public fax number is 631-421-7133) and the Station Branch (public fax number is 631-427-5375). The cost per page, domestic or international, is .25¢. If receiving a fax at the Library, please be sure that you will be present. The Library is not responsible for any fax received while the receipient is not present. The fax machine is located to the left of the customer service desk on the first floor of the Main Library, and to the left of the reference desk at our Station Branch location on 1335 New York Avenue.
Merlin Enhanced Vision Magnifier
The Merlin is is a full-color, auto-focus video magnifier, enabling "individuals with low vision to read, write, view photos, and more, in color, black-and-white, or advanced high-contrast positive or negative viewing modes."
Photocopier
A total of five photocopiers are strategically located on the first and second floors of the Main Library. The charge for copying is 0.10¢ per page for black-and-white or 0.25¢ per page for color. There is one color copier available for public use at our Station Branch location.
Self Checkout Station
Self service convenience is available at Huntington Public Library. We provide a number of touch-screen enabled "self checkout" stations at both our 338 Main and 1335 New York Avenue locations so you can avoid periodic lines at the customer services desk and be on your way. At 338 Main, self checkout stations are located on the second floor in the Youth & Parent Services Department near the computer lab, and on the first floor opposite Customer Services Desk. One self checkout station is located at the Station Branch opposite the Customer Services Desk. Please see a staff member if you have any questions about their use.
T-Mobile WiFi Hotspots
Adult Huntington Public Library patrons in good standing may borrow T-Mobile WiFi Hotspots from the library for a 3 week period. The hotspots provide unlimited WiFi connectivity for up to a half-dozen WiFi-enable devices located within the United States (no international coverage.) WiFi hotspots are suitable for use by travelers, students or anyone who may find themselves in need of temporary WiFi access. Speak to a librarian at the Adult and Reference Services Department at the Main Street library to find out if there is a WiFi hotspot available or to find out more about this portable technology.
