The Huntington Public Library proudly announces the formation of the Huntington Library Foundation, Inc.
Prominent business, civic and community leaders have formed a foundation to raise funds for innovative and creative programs not currently funded by the Huntington Public Library’s general budget.
"It is the mission of the Huntington Library Foundation to enhance and maintain the position of the Huntington Public Library as the cultural and informational anchor within the greater Huntington, New York community by increasing the quality and quantity of educational, informational, recreational and cultural opportunities offered to its citizens."
According to Board Chair, Peter J. Klein, the Huntington Library Foundation is an autonomous, tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) corporation, separate and distinct from the library board:
"The Foundation will not replace taxpayer funding, and monies collected will not become part of the library’s general budget," said Mr. Klein. "The foundation’s goal will be to help fund creative initiatives that will benefit our community and help our residents be more successful in life. I look forward to working together as a community to help maintain the library’s legacy as the educational, informational and cultural anchor of our community."
