The Huntington Public Library has been a part of Candid’s (formerly known as the Foundation Center) Funding Information Network for over 35 years. As a Funding Information Network library, we help grantseekers:

  • research grants and funder data

  • get hands on help with your fundraising search

  • find tools and resources to help nonprofit starts ups

At our Main Branch location, you can access the Foundation Directory Online (FDO) Professional and Grants to Individuals databases and other resources to assist and strengthen your nonprofit organization.

If you have questions or want to learn the basics of searching the FDO database, please contact Suzy Bloom at 631-427-1565, x 256 or email suzy_bloom@huntlib.org for an appointment or additional assistance.

Nonprofit Start Up Assessment Tool

Candid's Nonprofit Startup Assessment Tool helps aspiring nonprofit founders determine whether they are ready to start a nonprofit and to direct them to the resources they need to build skills and gain knowledge of the sector. This assessment is for people who are either considering or are already in the early stages of starting a nonprofit. Questions will evaluate background knowledge, capital, and work experience that are relevant to starting a nonprofit. You need a free Candid Learning account to access this tool.

In this one hour webinar, you will learn the legal and logistical elements necessary to start a successful nonprofit.  You will also learn about possible alternatives to starting your own nonprofit that you may not have considered.
